Checking consignment note numbers in Opter Driver

Applies to all variants of Opter Driver, (i.e. Opter Driver (classic) for Android, Opter Driver for iOS and Opter Driver Labs for Android).

You can set the consignment note number to be checked by the driver when changing the status of a shipment to Picked up and/or Delivered in Opter Driver. In this case, the driver cannot save the status change until the freight bill number has been checked and is correct. The setting is made in the customer register.

Decide for which customers the check should be done

Click on Register > Customers and make the settings on the Order Settings tab for each customer for whom a check of the freight bill number is to be done.

Decide whether the check should be done during loading or unloading

Under Freight bill number on the Order Settings tab in the customer register, select whether the check is to take place during loading or unloading, or both:

  • Check valid freight bill number: the freight bill number is already entered in Opter Driver and the driver just needs to check that it is correct.

  • Force new freight bill number entry: the driver has to enter the freight bill number in Opter Driver, either by hand or by scanning the freight bill.

By default, the check is made when the status of the first shipment of an order changes to Picked up and/or when the last shipment of an order changes to Delivered/Delivered, i.e. at the sender and/or receiver of the order. However, it can be defined that the check is done during the loading or unloading of each shipment on the order by setting the mobile data setting CheckFreightBillAtAllPickUpAndDelivery to "True". For information on how to set up mobile data settings, see Mobile data settings (window).

Additional checks (optional)

It can be set how carefully the freight bill number is checked.

  • Verify the number using a modulus 10 calculation. Make the setting in the Check Digit Calculation drop-down list.

To calculate the checksum, the consignment note numbers must consist of numbers only.

  • Enter the number of digits the number should have. If the number of digits does not need to be checked, enter “0” in the Number of characters field.

It can be useful to specify that it is only possible to change the status of one shipment at a time in Opter Driver if this function is being used. This can be done by setting the mobile data setting SetMultipleStatusPermission to "False". For more information, see Setting how status can be changed in Opter Driver for Android and Setting how status can be changed in Opter Driver.

Example

If the freight bill number should consist of 9 digits and be entered in Opter Driver when loading at the sender, and also at each terminal during the journey. Make the following settings:

  1. On pickup in Opter Driver: Select Force new freight bill number entry.

  2. On delivery in Opter Driver: Select No check.

  3. Number of characters: "9".

  4. CheckFreightBillAtAllPickUpAndDelivery: "True".

  5. SetMultipleStatusPermission: We recommend setting this to “False”.
