Synchronising the route sequence in Opter Driver and dispatch
Applies to Opter Driver for iOS and Opter Driver Labs for Android as of version 2.4.22.
(For Opter Driver (classic) for Android, see Synchronising the route sequence in Opter Driver and dispatch.)
The shipments you assign can be sorted in different ways by the drivers in Opter Driver. Once the shipments have been confirmed in the app, you can synchronise their sorting with dispatch and calculate the arrival time for each address based on the driver's route sequence. The calculated times can then be displayed in the app. This way, the driver can get estimated times for the driving order he creates in Opter Driver.
Instructions for drivers are available at Manually sort the driving order in Opter Driver.
(missing or bad snippet): Setting whether the driving order can be changed in Opter Driver
Use the mobile data setting SortPermission to choose whether or not to allow drivers to sort the job list. Proceed as follows:
In Opter, click on Settings > Mobile data > Settings mobile data.
Click on an empty row in the Name column and then on the down arrow in the row being added.
Select SortPermission from the list.
Enter “true” or “false” in the Value column as follows:
”True” (default): If you want drivers to be able to sort the job list in Opter Driver, for example manually change the driving order.
The menu items Sort and (Undefined variable: iOSDriverUI.ItemPage_Menu_ManualSorting) are displayed.
“False”: If you don't want drivers to be able to sort the job list in Opter Driver.
The menu items Sort and (Undefined variable: iOSDriverUI.ItemPage_Menu_ManualSorting) are not displayed.
Click on Save.
Users who are logged in to the app when the changes are saved in Opter must log out and then log back in to the app to see the changes.
(missing or bad snippet): Setting whether the driving order from Opter Driver should update the driving order in the traffic management
Use the mobile data setting SaveSortPermission to choose whether or not to transfer the driving order from the Opter Driver app to the traffic management. Proceed as follows:
In Opter, click on Settings > Mobile data > Settings mobile data.
Click on an empty row in the Name column and then on the down arrow in the row being added.
Select SaveSortPermission from the list.
Enter “true” or “false” in the Value column as follows:
“True”: If you want the driving order from the Opter Driver app to be transferred to the traffic management.
The driving order is transferred to the traffic management when the driver presses Save manual driving order after sorting the assignments in Opter Driver.
In order for drivers to be able to sort the job list in Opter Driver, SortPermission must be set to "true" (default). (See Step 1: Set whether the driving order may be changed in Opter Driver above.
”False” (default): If you do not want the driving order from the Opter Driver app to be transferred to the traffic management.
Click on Save.
Users who are logged in to the app when the changes are saved in Opter must log out and then log back in to the app to see the changes.
(missing or bad snippet): Approving the route sequence
There are two items in the Shipment Change Elements window that control approval of the route sequence: Route sequence - from and Route sequence - to. By default, they do not require approval, as there are many types of sorting in the app that would then need to be approved in dispatch.
Check that the settings for approving changes are as you want them. Proceed as follows:
In Opter, click on Settings > Mobile data > Settings mobile data.
Check your settings for App.ApproveChanges(For more information, see Setting how changes made in Opter Driver are approved.)
If App.ApproveChanges has been set to "false", changes never have to be approved in dispatch, regardless of the settings made elsewhere.
If App.ApproveChanges = "false", proceed to Step 4: Set up automatic calculation of ETA for vehicles and drivers below.
If you have set App.ApproveChanges to "true", i.e. changes must be authorised in the traffic management, you can make exceptions for, for example, mission changes, which then do not have to be authorised in the traffic management.
If App.ApproveChanges = "true", proceed to step 3.
In Opter, click on Settings > Mobile data > Shipment Change Elements.
Select Route sequence - from from the list on the left. Untick the checkbox Require Approval, if it is selected.
Select Route sequence - to from the list on the left. Untick the checkbox Require Approval, if it is selected.
Click on
to save all changes.
Ticking Require Approval for just one of the options (Route sequence - from and Route sequence - to) may lead to unexpected results.
(missing or bad snippet): Set automatic calculation of ETA for vehicle and driver
To be able to calculate times in dispatch and send them to Opter Driver without changing the route sequence, select Allow only automatic calculation of arrival time on the Details tab in the Employees and Vehicles registries.
If you are using automatic route optimisation, you cannot have the Allow automatic calculation of route sequence and arrival time checkbox selected in the Employees and Vehicles registries because the driver's route sequence will then be changed by automatic route optimisation.
If only a temporary sorting is done in the app, you can pause the automatic route optimisation. For more information, see Automatic route optimisation.
(missing or bad snippet): Sort the shipments in Opter Driver
Instructions for drivers on how to manually change the driving order in the Opter Driver mission list are available at Manually sort the driving order in Opter Driver.
(If your drivers are using Opter Driver (classic) for Android, instructions are available atSorting shipments in Opter Driver for Android Sorting shipments in Opter Driver for Android.)
(missing or bad snippet): Calculate the arrival times of the driver's driving order
Once the driver has sorted the shipments in Opter Driver, you can select the shipments in dispatch and press F9. The Route optimization window opens. Click on Calculate times (retain route sequence). Times are calculated and can be displayed in Opter Driver without changing the driving order.
