Synchronising the route sequence in Opter Driver and dispatch

The shipments you assign can be sorted in different ways by the drivers in Opter Driver. Once the shipments have been confirmed in the app, you can synchronise their sorting with dispatch and calculate the arrival time for each address based on the driver's route sequence. The calculated times can then be displayed in the app. This allows the driver to obtain estimated times for the route sequence they create in Opter Driver.

Step 1: Set the SaveSortPermission mobile data setting to “True”

The mobile data setting SaveSortPermission controls whether sorting in the app is transferred to dispatch. If no setting has been applied, it will be counted as “False”, which means that the route sequence from the app is not transferred to dispatch. How to adjust the mobile data setting:

  1. Click on Settings > Mobile data > Settings mobile data.
  2. Click on a blank row in the Name column and select SaveSortPermission from the list.
  3. Enter “True” in the Value column.
  4. Click on Save and Close.

Sorting is synchronised with dispatch when the driver presses Save after sorting the shipments in Opter Driver.

Approving the route sequence

There are two items in the Shipment Change Elements window that control approval of the route sequence: Route sequence - from and Route sequence - to. By default, they do not require approval, as there are many types of sorting in the app that would then need to be approved in dispatch.

Warning!

Do not select Require Approval for just one of the options as this may lead to unexpected results.

Step 2: Set automatic calculation of ETA for vehicle and driver

To be able to calculate times in dispatch and send them to Opter Driver without changing the route sequence, select Allow only automatic calculation of arrival time on the Details tab in the Employees and Vehicles registries.

Warning!

If you are using automatic route optimisation, you cannot have the Allow automatic calculation of route sequence and arrival time checkbox selected in the Employees and Vehicles registries because the driver's route sequence will then be changed by automatic route optimisation.

If only temporary sorting is being carried out in the app, the automatic route optimisation can be paused. For more information, see Automatic route optimisation.

Step 3: Sort the shipments in Opter Driver

For more information, see Sorting shipments in Opter Driver for Android.

Step 4: Calculate the arrival times for the driver's route sequence

Once the driver has sorted the shipments in Opter Driver, you can select the shipments in dispatch and press F9. The Route optimization window opens. Click on Calculate times (retain route sequence). The times are calculated and can be displayed in Opter Driver without changing the route sequence.
