The following describes how the concepts of haulier and subcontractor are used in Opter.
Haulier/haulage company
-
A company that probably drives for you daily.
-
Does not have its own Opter:
-
You enter the driver's name in the register of employees and the driver's vehicle in the vehicle register in your Opter. You can assign one or more vehicles/drivers to a rider.
-
The vehicle/driver can use the Opter Driver app. Opter Driver is then connected to your Opter.
-
The driver's vehicle/driver can use the supplier web, the driver web or the vehicle web, if you choose to give them access. For more information, see User accounts for the supplier web.
On the supplier web, drivers can view and manage the transports they carry out for you, and if you allow it, they can also create orders and assign shipments to their own vehicles, which in such cases are synchronised with dispatch in Opter. For more information, see Introduction to the supplier web.
-
-
You route the driver's vehicles/drivers in your Opter, or you let the driver allocate shipments to his own vehicles on the supplier web. For more information, see The supplier web.
Subcontractor
-
Can be a company you use for certain services, e.g. transport in certain geographical areas or for certain specialised transport.
-
You cannot assign any vehicle or driver in your Opter to a subcontractor.
-
The subcontractor may have its own Opter:
-
If the subcontractor has its own Opter:
-
You can connect your systems with OpterLink. For more information, see Create an OpterLink connection.
-
The subcontractor can use the Opter Driver app (linked to their Opter).
-
-
If the subcontractor does not have its own Opter:
-
If the subcontractor uses a different transport management system, your systems can probably be linked using an EDI connection. Contact the EDI team at .
-
There is also a special e-mail notification that can be sent to subcontractors when a shipment reaches the status Assigned or later. For more information, see Email notifications of shipments to subcontractors.
-
The subcontractor can use the subcontractor web if you choose to give them access. For more information, see Subcontractor web user accounts.
On the subcontractor web, subcontractors can see an overview of their ongoing shipments and any shipments that have been ordered but not yet confirmed by the transport manager. For more information, see Introduction to the subcontractor web and The subcontractor web.
-
The subcontractor's vehicle/driver cannot use the Opter Driver app.
