Creating an OpterLink connection with a partner
OpterLink is the new name for K2 Link. If you have a partner who also has Opter, you can connect your Opter systems to OpterLink, which provides the following convenient functions:
It is easy to send orders to each other by assigning them to subcontractors in the dispatch (by definition, orders are sent to each other, but the receiver gets a new order).
You receive an confirmation so that you can see if the subcontractor has received the shipment/order.
When the subcontractor changes the status to Picked up or Delivered, the status of the shipment also changes for the person who sent the shipment to the subcontractor.
Proofs of delivery are automatically transferred between Opter systems.
You and your partner can chat to each other in Opter.
The default settings for OpterLink include sending the following data between Opter systems:
Confirmation of shipment/order, i.e. that the shipment/order is Created and Accepted at the partner. All shipments/orders that are sent via OpterLink are automatically accepted immediately.
Note:If the Validate EDI orders in order page checkbox is selected in the office settings, the orders must be opened and saved in order reception to have the Accepted status.
The statuses Picked up and Delivered at the shipment level.
PODs, including a signature and image, i.e. proof of delivery types Delivered, New address and Nobody home.
In addition to the default OpterLink settings, it is possible to add the option to send the following data between systems:
Package scans, such as arrival and departure scans at terminals.
Freight bill scans.
Resource prices.
Deviations, such as damage during transport.
Changes to orders and shipments, such as addresses and loading and unloading times.
Revocations of shipments. For more information, seeRevoking shipments that have been sent via OpterLink
Credits, option for check external credits. For more information, seeChecking external credits
If you and your partner would like to add any of the above features, you can order this from the EDI department at . The EDI team will need a description of how you want it to work and approval from both parties. For information about the cost of EDI work, see your agreement with Opter.
You can see which OpterLink partnerships you have in dispatch on the Opter Link panel on the right (click on Partnerships), or on the Subcontractors panel (OpterLink partnerships are marked with the OpterLink symbol ()).
If your partner does not have Opter, the systems can be linked via an EDI connection. Contact for more information. The EDI team will need a description of how you want it to work and approval from both parties. For information about the cost of EDI work, see your agreement with Opter.
Step 1: Prepare the connection
To create an OpterLink connection, both parties have to proceed as follows:
Ensure that the partner is entered in both the customer registry and the subcontractor registry.
Make your company visible in OpterLink. Open dispatch and go to the Opter Link (K2 Link) panel on the right, click on Settings and select the Should your company be searchable in K2 Link checkbox.
If the Opter Link(K2 Link) panel cannot be seen in dispatch, click on View and then on Opter Link.
Step 2: Create a new OpterLink connection
To create an OpterLink connection, you or your partner make a request for a new partnership:
- In dispatch, on the Opter Link(K2 Link) panel, click on New partnership. Select your partner from the Partner drop-down list.
- Fill in the Customer field.
- Select subcontractor from the Subcontractor drop-down list.
- Click on Save to send your partnership request.
When you receive a request for a new partnership, the Opter Link (K2 Link) panel in dispatch turns red. You accept the request by clicking on Accept on the panel.
Remove an OpterLink connection
To remove an OpterLink connection, you or your partner can proceed as follows:
In dispatch, on the Opter Link(K2 Link) panel, click on Partnerships.
Select the partner from the list on the left.
Click on the Remove button.
You will be asked if you are sure you want to remove this partnership. Click on Yes.
The OpterLink connection is now removed.
The next time the partner opens its dispatch, your company will no longer be listed in the OpterLink partnerships.
