GPS tracker from Postrack
In this Price item
It is possible to use Postrack tracking devices for positioning vehicles in Opter. Once you have installed the tracking device on the vehicle and activated it in Opter, the vehicle's position is shown on the map in the dispatch. The positioning from Opter Driver is deactivated as long as the positioning from Postrack is active. If there are no more positions coming from Postrack, the positioning from Opter Driver is reactivated.
Step 1: Activate the mobile device type Postrack
In order to configure the tracking device in the vehicle register, the device type must be activated. It is deactivated by default.
-
Click on Settings > Mobile data > Mobile device types.
-
Click on Show inactive in the menu.
-
Select Postrack in the list and click on
in the toolbar.
Postrack now appears in the table of mobile devices on the Mobile/web tab of the vehicle registry.
Step 2: Mobile data settings for communication with the units
You must enter your username and password in the Mobile data settings for Opter to communicate with the devices. If you do not know your login details, please contact Postrack.
-
PosTrack.Username: Username for the Postrack account.
-
PosTrack.Password: Password for the Postrack account.
By default, Opter Driver takes over the positioning if Postrack has not sent any positions in 30 minutes. The setting PosTrack.IdleTimeout allows you to change how long Postrack can be inactive before Opter Driver takes over.
For information on how to add Mobile data settings, see Mobile data settings (window).
Step 3: Link the device to the vehicle in the vehicle register
When you installed the tracking device on the vehicle, you GIFed the device in the Postrack system. Enter the same name in the vehicle register in Opter.
-
Click on Register > Vehicles.
-
Go to the tab Mobile/web and enter the name in the column Address.
-
Make sure the Active checkbox is selected.
Use the vehicle registration number as the name of the tracking device when registering it in the Postrack system. This makes it easy to see which unit is connected to which vehicle. If the device already has a different name, or if you enter a different name, you can enter it in the Description field on the General tab.
