Zone direction (window)

Settings > Zone directions

In this window, directions are created that can be set to geo-zones by entering the name and code. The directions are based on an imaginary centre point that you have agreed upon, such as your head office, and can be, for example, "South" and "North". The centre point is not recorded anywhere in Opter, and is entirely theoretical.

The directions can help in the planning of the transport and are displayed in dispatch with the Direction from (code)/Direction from (name) columns for the sender's geo-zone and Direction towards (code)/Direction towards (name) columns for the receiver's geo-zone. This makes it possible to see in which direction the shipment is going in relation to the theoretical centre point. For more information on how to add columns for transport planning, see Dispatch settings (window).

Thus, it is actually the combination of the zone directions for the sender and the receiver that gives a direction for the shipment. The zone directions created here, and stated for the geo-zone, are rather a position relative to the centre point. The accuracy of the zoning directions you want to create will depend on how much support you want from them in your planning. The four main compass directions may be sufficient, or more can be added if needed.
