Locked shipments

This feature allows shipments that are part of multi-leg orders to be locked so that their status cannot be changed unless the previous shipment has been completed. This ensures that the information in Opter is reliable because it is not possible to state that a shipment has started before it is possible for this to happen in practice, for example avoiding goods that have not yet even been unloaded at a terminal being stated as already having been loaded in the next shipment. This function is only relevant if an order has multiple shipments.

The function is enabled as follows:

  1. Click on SettingsOffices.
  2. Select the Lock consecutive shipments checkbox on the Dispatching tab.

A shipment is locked and cannot be given a new status in dispatch if the following conditions are met:

  • The Lock consecutive shipments checkbox is selected in the office settings.

  • The shipment’s status is earlier than Pickup/Loaded according to the life cycle settings. If the shipment’s status is Delivered/Unloaded, it remains unlocked even if the status of a previous shipment is changed back to a previous status.
  • The previous shipment is ready for dispatch (in accordance with the checkbox in order reception).
  • The previous shipment has not reached the Delivered/Unloaded status according to the life cycle settings.

The above conditions are checked for all shipments in an order when any of the shipments are given a new status and when the order is saved.

Obs!

If you try to set a status that is not allowed for a locked shipment in dispatch, the Confirm changes dialogue box appears. It indicates that the shipment is locked and that the status cannot be changed. Nothing can be done in that dialogue box, despite the name.
