Countries (window)
Register > Countries
In this window, settings for different countries, such as the country name, code, address format and VAT rate, can be configured. The default country can also be set.
The window’s tabs

On this tab, the country’s name, code, address format and more can be defined.
Function | Explanation |
---|---|
Name | Country name. The country list in Opter is in English. |
Code | Country code. PTV Map&Guide uses the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 standard. It is important that the same code is used here as in PTV Map&Guide, so that PTV Map&Guide understands which country the addresses are in and distance calculations can be made. |
Address format | The address format controls which address elements can be displayed in the Sender and Receiver sections of order reception and on the customer web. State can only be displayed if US is selected in the drop-down list. |
Address data | Select the address data from the drop-down list for example Estonia or Denmark. |
VAT rate | Select the VAT rate for the country. To add a new VAT rate, click on Registering VAT rates. The VAT rate specified here can be overridden. For more information, seeHow Opter chooses the VAT rate for customer invoices If you want the VAT rate entered here to be used on credits, see How Opter chooses the VAT rate on credits. |
Route optimization settings | Used to obtain the correct position for addresses on Åland, as PTV Map&Guide has saved all Åland addresses with the country Finland. If route optimisation is being used on Åland, enter “COU_Name” in the Setting column and Finland (i.e. the country name) in the Value column. |

On this tab you can define for which road toll types Opter should automatically create road toll price items, and whether they should be displayed individually or grouped: The settings can also be made under Settings > Offices, on the Weight/Distance tab. It doesn't matter if the settings are made in the Countries registry or in the office settings, as essentially the same data is changed. To make the same settings for all countries, it is most efficient to make them in the office settings.
Follow the instructions in Managing road tolls, as you need to make more settings so that the road toll calculation function works.
Create a new row in the table for each setting you want to make, pursuant to the following:
The Type column. Enter the road toll type, for example GENERAL or BRIDGE.
Type Description GENERAL
General road tolls.
For example, the Danish and German distance-based road tolls are registered as the road toll type GENERAL. The Norwegian "Bomringen - Oslo" is also registered as the road toll type GENERAL.
CITY Urban charges/congestion charges.
For example, the congestion charges in Swedish cities such as Stockholm and Gothenburg are registered as the road toll type CITY.
BRIDGE
Bridge tolls.
For example, the bridge toll for the Öresund Bridge is registered as the road toll type BRIDGE.
TUNNEL
Tunnel tolls.
For example, the tunnel toll for the Warnowtunnel in Rostock is registered as the road toll type TUNNEL.
FERRY Ferry charges/tickets.
MOUNTAIN_PASS Mountain pass tolls.
The Management column. For example Show individually.
Management Results Show grouped The road tolls are shown grouped, i.e. a price item row is created on which all road tolls of a certain type are totalled and grouped by country. For example, all the bridge tolls in the country of Denmark can be totalled and displayed on one price item row.
Show individually The road tolls are displayed individually, i.e. one price item row is created for each road toll.
For example, a new price item row can be created for each bridge toll.
Ignore
The road tolls are ignored, i.e. no price items are created.
For more information and examples, see Managing road tolls.
If no settings are made in the Countries registry or in the office settings, the default settings are used:
General road tolls (Type: GENERAL) are shown grouped by country.
All other road tolls are displayed individually, i.e. one price item row per road toll.
