Routes (window)

w OrderRoutes

(missing or bad snippet)

In this window, you set up the routes, which together with the terminals make up your line network. For example, if you have a Stockholm-Malmö route with terminals in Jönköping and Helsingborg, orders between Jönköping-Malmö and Helsingborg-Malmö will also be able to be automatically distributed on that route. For more information, see Routes and auto dispatch and Creating and setting up routes.

If you have many routes, it may be easier to export them to Excel, and work with them there instead of in Opter, and then import them back into Opter. For more information, see Exporting and importing routes to/from Excel.

General

Function

Description

Name

Give the route a name. Proposal:

  • 'Linjerutt Oslo - Trondheim' (if it is a regular service between Oslo and Trondheim).

  • "Distribution Oslo", "Stockholm 12* - 11*" or "Pick-up Helsinki" (if it is a distribution route).

Type

Select whether the route is for regular services or distribution:

  • Line haul: The route runs between two or more terminals.

  • Distribution: The route has a pick-up area and/or a drop-off area. In between, there may be one or more terminals.

For routes of type Distribution you can choose to allow direct transport. For more information, see Creating and setting up routes and Defining how Opter prioritises routes.

Date

Indicate the date from which the route may be used.

Points for money sharing

Indicate how many points the route gives, for example "1" or "3". For more information, see Split the revenue between the shipments on an order.

Maximum number of stops on same day

The maximum number of missions that can be added to the route on a single day. This is to avoid overloading a route if, for example, many orders are scanned at a terminal at the same time and are to be dispatched the next day.

If the maximum number is reached, the route can no longer be selected on the customer website or Track & Trace when creating an order, and a warning message will be displayed in the order reception when you save the order. The assignments are instead matched with the next departure on the route, or other routes.

Routes set via EDI do not take into account the maximum number of assignments.

Region

If you make a region pre-selected on a route, the mission is automatically assigned to the region when the route is selected. This allows you to filter by region in dispatch. It also allows you to control the account and economic unit for the shipment’s share of income and costs based on the region.

Description

Free text field for internal notes. The description is not displayed anywhere else but here.

Sequence code

Used for machine sorting of packages at terminals.

Only allow assigned resource to departure scan shipments

: Only the resource to which the mission is allocated is authorised to exit the mission.

: Departure scanning is allowed even if the mission is not allocated to the resource. The resource as departure scanner thus takes over the assignment from the resource to which the assignment was allocated.

Pickup

Delivery

Direct transport

Line haul

If so desired, the system can be configured to ensure that a certain vehicle and/or a certain driver are assigned shipments connected to a route. It is also possible to set up the assignment of a specific subcontractor to a route. For more information, see Linking vehicles or drivers to routes.

Status for new shipments

  • For routes of type Distribution:

You can set the status you want new assignments to have at Pickup, Delivery and Direct transport under Status for new shipments, for example Assigned or Confirmed.

  • For routes of type Line haul:

You can set the status you want new assignments to have at Line haul under Status for new shipments, for example Assigned or Confirmed.

Exceptions

(Button)

You can make exceptions to the status rules you have set in the drop-down list(s) Status for new shipments above.

For example, if the first terminal of the route is "Terminal Tallinn", you can choose the status of the new assignments at Pickup, Delivery and/or Line haul. Add a new row for each exception you want to make. If you want to delete a row, select the row by clicking on the far left of the row and press the Delete key. When you have finished, close the window and click on in the Routes window to save your changes.

Schedule

(Button)

Click on Schedule and select the days on which the route operates. For more information, see Schedule, routes (window).

Under the button Schedule you can see if the route is running Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Instance (i.e. on a certain day of the month).

Scheduled route

The checkbox is no longer used and will be removed. (In Opter, all routes are scheduled.)

Connections to route groups

Here you can use the checkboxes to select which route group(s) the route should be included in.

You create route groups in the Route Groups window. (Click on Order > Route Groups).

Show inactive

: Also show inactive route groups.

: Show only active route groups.

You can set which route groups are active and inactive in the Route Groups window. (Click on Order > Route Groups).

Line haul (scheduled routes only)

The Line haul tab will appear if you have selected Type Line haul on the General tab (see above).

For examples and pictures, see Creating and setting up routes.

If you have many rows with different postcode areas, and you want to easily see which postcode areas are served on, for example, Wednesdays, you can sort the column Wednesday by clicking twice at the top of the column. For more information, see Creating and setting up routes.
