Arrival times, departure times and plus days

The arrival and departure times for routes can be set. These times are used to calculate delivery dates and delivery times on the shipments matched with the routes. If the pickup takes place on day 1, the line haul and delivery can be automatically scheduled for the subsequent days using the times on the routes. This is comparable to a train timetable, where it is possible to calculate an end date and changes using the departure and arrival times of the trains.

Plus days are used to set dates.

Plus days

Plus days are used to indicate the day on which transport should take place on a route, relative to previous stops. Plus days can only be used within one route and cannot be used for date relationships between different routes.

For line haul routes, the Plus days column is on the Line haul tab, and for distribution routes, the column is on the Pickup and Delivery tabs.

Example

This is how Opter finds the arrival time of 5.00 pm on day 2:

NameStart timeEnd timeDay
Stockholm pickup8.00 am4.00 pmDay 1
Line haul Stockholm – Jönköping6.00 pm10.00 pmDay 1
Line haul Jönköping – Malmö11.00 pm4.00 am +1Day 1
Malmö delivery8.00 am5.00 pmDay 2
Last delivery time 5.00 pmDay 2

A line haul service between Jönköping and Malmö has a departure time of 11 pm on day 1 from the terminal in Jönköping. The arrival time in Malmö is 4 am the following morning, i.e. on day 2 of the route. When setting the arrival time in Malmö in the Routes window, we therefore write “1” in the Plus days column.
