Introduction to POD (proof of delivery)

Proof of delivery (POD) originally referred to a piece of information confirming that a person had received a consignment, which included the person’s signature and the time at which delivery occurred. The concept has been broadened and in Opter proof of delivery can be used to describe other information as well, for example that a delivery attempt has been made but failed because the receiver was not at home.

In Opter, different proof of delivery types can be created to register different types of events on the order, and it can then be set so that the status of the order is changed, or a new order is created, when a proof of delivery of a certain type is registered. Proofs of delivery can also be sent and received via EDI.

Creating and setting up POD types

The POD types are created in the Proof of delivery types window (Settings > Proof of delivery (POD) > Proof of delivery types). The list on the left shows the POD types available in the system. POD types with the icon have a sub-POD type. Select the POD type whose settings are to be changed, or for which new settings are to be created by clicking on the left in the toolbar (New). For more information about the settings, see Proof of delivery types (window).

Registering a proof of delivery

A proof of delivery can be registered in four different ways in Opter:

Integration with other systems

On the EDI tab of the Proof of delivery types window, it is possible to see how the POD type is matched with POD types in the external system and whether or not they are exported for different mappings. Contact for more information.
