Haulier/haulage company
-
A company that probably drives for you daily.
-
Does not have its own Opter:
-
You enter the driver's name in the register of employees and the driver's vehicle in the vehicle register in your Opter. You can assign one or more vehicles/drivers to a rider.
-
The supplier’s vehicle/driver can use Opter Driver linked to your system
-
The supplier’s vehicle/driver can use the supplier web, the driver web or the vehicle web. For more information, see User accounts for the supplier web.
On the supplier web, drivers can view and manage the transports they carry out for you, and if you allow it, they can also create orders and assign shipments to their own vehicles, which in such cases are synchronised with dispatch in Opter. For more information, see Introduction to the supplier web.
-
-
You route the driver's vehicles/drivers in your Opter, or you let the driver allocate shipments to his own vehicles on the supplier web. For more information, see The supplier web.
Subcontractor
-
Can be a company you use for certain services, e.g. transport in certain geographical areas or for certain specialised transport.
-
You cannot assign any vehicle or driver in your Opter to a subcontractor.
-
If the subcontractor has its own Opter:
-
You can connect the systems using Opter Link. For more information, see Opter Link.
-
They can use the Opter Driver in conjunction with their Opter.
-
-
If the subcontractor does not have its own Opter:
-
If the subcontractor uses a different transport management system, your systems can probably be linked via an EDI connection. Contact for more information.
-
There is an email notification that can be sent to subcontractors when you assign a shipment to them. For more information, see Email notifications of shipments to subcontractors.
-
The subcontractor may use the subcontractor web. For more information, see Subcontractor web user accounts.
The subcontractor web provides an overview of current shipments and any shipments that have been ordered but not yet confirmed by the traffic controller. For more information, see Introduction to the subcontractor web and The subcontractor web.
-
The subcontractor’s vehicles/drivers cannot use Opter Driver.
-
Driver
-
All drivers in the driver register (Employees) are displayed as resources in dispatch.
-
You enter drivers employed by suppliers you use into the driver register and link them to the supplier.
-
If you have your own employed drivers, you should enter them in the driver register without linking them to any supplier.
-
If you use a self-employed driver who is not employed by you or by any supplier, you should register them as a subcontractor or create a supplier with the same name as the driver and link the two together.
Vehicle
-
All vehicles in the vehicle register are displayed as resources in dispatch.
-
You enter vehicles owned by suppliers you use into the vehicle register and link them to the supplier.
-
If you have your own vehicles, you should add them to the vehicle register without linking them to any supplier.
