Opter Link

Last updated: 21 August 2026

If you have a business partner who also uses Opter, you can connect your systems using Opter Link, which offers the following convenient features, amongst others:

  • Send shipments to each other by assigning them to the relevant subcontractor in the dispatch centre. (Technically speaking, you send shipments to each other, but a new order is created on the recipient’s end.)

  • Confirmation that the subcontractor has received the shipment/order.

  • When the subcontractor changes the status to Picked up or Delivered, the shipment will also be updated to the new status in your system.

  • Proof of delivery is sent automatically between your systems.

By default, the following data is exchanged between the systems:

  • Confirmation of the shipment/order, i.e. that the shipment/order has been created by the subcontractor and has been accepted. All shipments sent via Opter Link are accepted automatically.

If the subcontractor has selected Validate EDI orders in order page in the office settings (the Internet tab), they must open and save the order in the order reception system for it to be given the status Accepted. Only then will you see that it has been accepted into your system.

  • The statuses Picked up and Delivered at the shipment level.

  • Proofs of delivery of types Delivered, New address and Nobody home, including signature and image.

In addition, the following data can be sent between the systems:

  • parcel scans

  • freight bills scan

  • resource prices

  • deviations

  • changes to orders and shipments (for example, addresses and loading and unloading times)

  • cancellations of shipments

  • supplier bills (the ability to check external supplier bills).

Please contact the EDI department on if you would like to add any of the above features. The EDI team will need a description of how you want it to work and approval from both parties. For information about the cost of EDI work, see your agreement with Opter.

You can see which Opter Link partnerships you have in the Opter Link panel on the right-hand side of the dispatch section (click on Partnerships), or in the panel Subcontractors. Opter Link partnerships are marked with .

If your business partner does not use Opter, the systems can be linked via an EDI connection. Contact for more information.

Create a new Opter Link connection

  1. Both parties must add the partner to both the customer register and the subcontractor register.

  2. Both parties must make the company visible in Opter Link. Open the Opter Link panel on the right-hand side of the dispatch panel and select Should your company be searchable in Opter Link.

    • If you cannot see the Opter Link panel, click on the View menu tab and then on Opter Link.

    • You must dock the panel ( top right) to be able to tick the box.

  3. One of the parties then makes a request for a partnership. Click on New partnership. Select your partner from the Partner drop-down list.

  4. Enter the partner's customer code in the field Customer.

  5. Select the partner from the drop-down menu Subcontractor.

  6. Click on Save to send the enquiry to the partner.

When you receive a request for a new partnership, the Opter Link panel in dispatch turns red. You accept the request by clicking on Accept on the panel.

Remove an Opter Link connection

If you or your partner wish to remove an Opter Link connection, please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Partnerships on the Opter Link panel.

  2. Select the partner from the list on the left.

  3. Click on Remove.

The next time the partner opens the dispatch system, your company will no longer be listed amongst the Opter Link partners.

If you wish to cancel a shipment that you have sent to a partner, change its status to Created. The partner will not be notified that the order has been cancelled, so you must contact them to let them know.

It is possible to extend the Opter Link integration with a feature that ensures a cancelled shipment is automatically trashed at the partner’s end.

Contact for more information. The EDI team will need a description of how you want it to work and approval from both parties. For information about the cost of EDI work, see your agreement with Opter.

If you have received an order that you do not intend to fulfil, you must trash the order. You can do that in the dispatch centre or the order reception department.

When you trash an order, the status Rejected is sent to the client. At the client’s end, the shipment is assigned the status Rejected or Created, depending on their status workflow.

  • Dispatch: Right-click on the shipment and select Trash.

  • Order reception: Open the order and click Delete in the Start menu.

It is important that you trash any orders you do not intend to fulfil, so that the partner is notified of this via Opter Link. If the order or shipment is only given the Rejected status, the partner will not be notified.
