Route optimisation of shipments with options

Route optimisation can be set to take into account the vehicle characteristics required by the shipment options, so that shipments with, for example, the “Refrigeration” option are assigned to vehicles with refrigeration capacity.

Step 1: Make the options available to vehicles and route optimisation

Click on Settings > Options and select the Available for vehicles and Available for route optimisation checkboxes for all the options you want to take into account in the route optimisation. Click on to save the change for each option.

Step 2: Specify which options the vehicles can handle

Update the vehicles in the vehicle registry so that the information about the vehicles’ capacity is correct.

  1. Click on Register > Vehicles and select a vehicle in the list.
  2. Go to the Capacity tab and select the options that the vehicle can handle under Options.
  3. Click on to save all changes.

  4. Repeat for all vehicles for which you want to specify the capacity, and which are to be used in route optimisation.

Step 3: Set the route optimisation to match any options on the orders to the capacity of the vehicles

  1. Click on Settings > Route optimization settings and go to the Limitations tab.
  2. Select Plan shipments with options using vehicles that have the required capacity.

Shipments with options, such as “Cooling”, are only added to vehicles with the corresponding capacity during route optimisation.

Step 4: Perform route optimisation as usual

Click on Calculate route sequence in the Route optimization window. Shipments with options are matched with vehicles that have that capacity. Matching is also carried out with automatic route optimisation.

Tip

The shipment options can be viewed in a column in the route sequence table in the Route optimization window.
