The basics of Opter Terminal

Installation

Opter Terminal requires Android 4.1 or later. To see which Android version a phone is running, tap Settings > About your phone > Software information.

  1. Open Google Play Store on your mobile phone.
  2. Search for “Opter Terminal” and install the app with that name.
  1. Connect the app to your Opter system by scanning the QR code or opening the link provided by the system administrator.

Logging in

The system administrator determines whether you log in as a terminal or with a personal user account. If you are logging in as a user, the next step is to specify the terminal at which you are scanning.

Scanning with Opter Terminal

Opter Terminal can be used to scan barcodes and QR codes on freight bills, packages and load carriers. If you are using a standalone Bluetooth scanner instead of the built-in camera, tap Settings and select Scanner. The camera will not open when you start a scan.

How to scan:

  1. Select the type of scan that is to be performed from the main menu (known as a scan direction). The system administrator can determine which scan directions are displayed on the main menu, so there is no guarantee that all the options shown below will be displayed.

    • Scan incoming: scanning goods arriving at the terminal.

    • Scan outgoing: scanning goods leaving the terminal.

    • Deviations: scanning goods to register deviations. For more information, see Registering deviations in Opter Terminal.

    • Floor check: scanning goods that are already at the terminal.

    • Load carrier scanning: scanning of load carriers. For more information, see Load carrier and Handling load carriers in Opter Terminal.

    • Proof of delivery: scanning goods picked up at the terminal by the final receiver.

    • Print: scanning goods to print a package label, freight bill, sequence label or shipment list. For more information, see Printout scanning in Opter Terminal.

    • QR: scanning a QR code with scan settings if several people are helping to scan a load. For more information, see Batch scanning in Opter Terminal.

  2. Choose whether to scan package labels or freight bills. The system administrator can define a setting so that this choice doesn’t have to be made.

  3. Scan the packages with the built-in camera or an external scanner. To cancel a scan, give it a long-press in the scan list and select Undo.
