Adding a ferry consisting of two terminals and the distance between them
In this article
A ferry in Opter can be defined in two different ways. You choose which of the following ways you want to define a ferry:
-
A ferry consists of two terminals and the distance between them, with the terminals being the ports between which the ferry travels.
-
A ferry only consists of the shipments that are placed on the route operated by the ferry. For instructions, see Adding a ferry consisting only of the shipments that are placed on the route.
The instructions below describe how to add a ferry consisting of two terminals (ports) and the distance between them. For more information about ferries, see Ferry lines.
A ferry only has one direction
A ferry in Opter only has one direction. For example, to add the ferry connection between Stockholm and Helsinki, add two ferries in Opter, one for each direction. These two ferries have the same terminals, but Terminalist for one ferry is Terminali for the other ferry, and vice versa.
Adding a ferry
For a ferry consisting of two terminals and the distance between them, it is always mandatory to include the trailer resource type on the ferry. It can be chosen whether only trailers should accompany the ferry, or whether drivers, vehicles and/or subcontractors should also accompany it. It can also be chosen whether or not drivers, vehicles and/or subcontractors travelling on the ferry should continue to have the shipments after the ferry.
Step 1: Create the two terminals (ports) that form the ferry
-
Click on Register > Terminalid.
-
Click on
to create a new terminal. Give the terminal a code and a name, the rest is optional. For more information, see Terminalid (window). -
