Depending on how you have chosen for users to log in, you create user accounts for terminals or personal user accounts. You can configure how users log in using Logon as terminal in Opter Terminal on the Scanning tab in the Office settings.
Log in as a terminal
If users are to log in as terminals in Opter Terminal, you must create user accounts for the terminals.
-
Click on Register > Terminals.
-
Select a terminal in the list on the left and go to the Mobile/web tab.
-
Enter a username and click on Change password to create a password that the resource will use to log in to Opter Terminal. The checkbox Log in as terminal in Opter Terminal (office setting) is for information only and cannot be ticked or unticked here, it is done on the Scanning tab in the office settings (Logon as terminal in Opter Terminal).
The users can now log into the app using the credentials defined by you. The password is case sensitive. If you created the password "Password", users must log in with "Password", "password" does not work.
The passwords are encrypted and Opter cannot access them. If a user forgets their password, you must create a new one by clicking on Change password.
Creating personal user accounts
If users are to log in to Opter Terminal using personal user accounts, you must first add them as employees and then create user accounts for them. For more information, see User accounts for the Opter client.
Log in with Entra ID
It is not possible to log in to Opter Terminal using Microsoft Entra ID. If you use Entra ID to log in to Opter, you must create personal user accounts for Opter terminal. Users therefore log in to Opter using Entra ID, and to Opter Terminal using a username and password.
Start by checking that Logon as terminal in Opter Terminal is unticked on the Scanning tab in the Office settings.
New users
-
Add the user as an employee (see step 1 in User accounts for the Opter client).
-
Click Settings > Access rights and add a new user account for the employee, using their email address as the username.
-
Select Login with Azure AD and save.
-
Uncheck Login with Azure AD, but do not save!
-
Click on Change password and enter a password.
The password is case sensitive. If you create the password “Password”, users must log in with “Password”; “password” will not work.
If you have Opter Cloud, your password must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one special character (!@#$%^&*?_~-().,).
-
Select Remote access and Login with Azure AD, then save the user account.
Existing users
Same as steps 4–6 above.
-
Click Settings > Access rights and select a user from the list.
-
Uncheck Login with Azure AD, but do not save!
-
Click on Change password and enter a password.
When a user leaves the organisation, simply deleting their Entra ID is not enough. The user can still log in to Opter Terminal using their personal user account. It is therefore important to mark users who become inactive for more than Settings as inactive > Access rights.
